Best Time to Visit Dubai: Month-by-Month Honest Guide

Burj Al Arab

Dubai’s tourist season is dictated almost entirely by heat. The difference between January and July is not “warmer” — it’s the difference between a walkable city and one where you move between air-conditioned buildings in short bursts.

Month by month

Months Daytime Crowds Hotel prices
Nov–Mar 24–30°C Heavy Highest
Apr & Oct 32–36°C Moderate Mid
May & Sep 38–41°C Light Low
Jun–Aug 41–45°C Lightest Lowest

November to March — the real season

Warm days, cool evenings, and the only time of year you can comfortably walk around, sit outside or spend a full day at the beach. Everything outdoors is at its best.

The cost is crowds and price. Hotel rates roughly double against summer, the Burj Khalifa sells out its prime slots, and desert safaris book up days ahead. Christmas and New Year are the peak of the peak — expect the highest prices of the year.

April and October — the sweet spot

Hot but manageable — mornings and evenings are pleasant, midday is best spent indoors. Crowds thin noticeably and prices sit well below peak.

If you’re flexible, these two months are the best value in the calendar. You get most of the winter experience at close to summer prices.

Summer — cheap, and genuinely hot

June to August regularly exceeds 42°C with high humidity near the coast. This isn’t “hot weather” so much as a different way of visiting: malls, museums, aquariums, indoor everything, with the beach only viable early morning or after dark.

It works if you’re honest about it. Hotels that cost AED 900 in January can be AED 350 in July, and the desert safari switches to a morning start which is genuinely more pleasant.

What it doesn’t suit: a walking-heavy itinerary, or anyone who wilts in heat.

Ramadan

Dates shift each year. Attractions stay open and tourists aren’t expected to fast, but eating and drinking in public during daylight is inappropriate, some restaurants close until sunset, and the atmosphere is quieter.

It’s not a reason to avoid Dubai — iftar buffets are a highlight in their own right — but check the dates so it isn’t a surprise.

Short answer

  • Best weather: December–February. Pay for it.
  • Best value: April or October.
  • Cheapest: July–August, if you plan around the heat.
  • Avoid: late December if you’re price-sensitive.
